Paleolithic rock shelter.

Saturday, March 04, 2006

The previous week we cancelled our walk owing to strong winds and sleet. We visited instead Maidstone Museum .On the 1st March we again had weather that was not ideal. The day started at -3.5 C with winds in excess of 20 knots. As we were walking on the ridge of the downs,we had to keep moving to stay warm.We RV'd at the Riding Stables and set off to Thurnham hill a very steep and exhausting climb. The route was varied, one minute on the crest and then in woodland, occasionally giving us shelter from the wind.Having gained Hollingbourne we started back at the lower level of the pilgrims way, which was less windy. We returned to the stable for hot bacon sandwiches and went home for a hot bath.(individually)

Click on the pic to enlarge and see the police officers searching the coutryside for £50 million which has gone missing.
