Rainham Country park to Gillingham Strand

A Short walk along to Gillingham Strand, along the bank of the river Medway(tidal section). The Dutch Navy sailed up here in 1660 and sank most of the Royal Navy, and for some strange reason this is not taught in our history lessons at school. There are a couple of medieval forts in the river and they usued to strech chains across the river to deter attackers. An interesting front garden on a house fronting the river, with a nautical theme.
sunny weather a walk of 4 miles.
