Weds Oct 1st Trosley country park

The Old Fogeys struggling up a hill so steep that it had to be traversed diagonally

Trosley(Trottiscliffe)Church ,no Roman stuff in the walls as plenty of flint around,
and no water nearby.

some stupid git has had a fire going on the grass(probably druids again)

This is a very steep and dodgy slope which is not obvious from the picture

The Ancient Trackway where traders from Wales and Wiltshire passed on their way to the East

this shows the steepness of the slope up to the ridgeway

What a beautiful day! we were told by the weather girls(chosen for their looks)that it would be very windy with heavy rain.Well it wasn't.We did our usual 6 mile circular walk to the ancient Coldrum stones, and then back up the very steep hill.We met with a couple of our mates at the log cabin for a cup of tea (which I paid for) for a ragchew before we set out.Autumn in all its splendour, with the trees beginning to turn brown and gold. A visit to Trosley church which was open ,very interesting..
Graham Sutherland is buried there.see his picture and one that he famously painted.
THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE LEFT COMMENTS ON THE BLOG-MUCH APPRECIATED
