A lovely bright sunny day with a slight cold wind .We started at Harrietsham Rail station where the car park was mysteriously empty. This is because they now charge for the privilege!
We ambled off about 1Km down the road and entered our first muddy field. No sign of where the footpath went,so we trooped around the edge.We entered the woods and met still more mud and again had signage trouble. We intercepted the Greensand Way and because of further ploughed fields, got a little lost and had to use compass bearings to find the way.Crossing at Liverton Street,We eventually made it to Boughton Malherbe church where a famous person has reserved a grave plot.(no I'm not telling)We had our sandwiches in the church porch, and set off across the fields again(more mud)
We came to Chilston Hall, where there were no footpath signs at all,so took to the road, and thence back to Harrietsham.About 8miles,quite pleasant, nice views,5 of us
Pix include "climbing through a hedge"(when there was a gap 50 feet up the road)
Three shadows in shot
Boughton Malherbe church(pronounced Borton Mallerby)
Lots and lots of mud and ploughed fields
Surprisingly good views across the Weald of Kent in the sunshine
A funny conical brick (kiln?)with a door that I thought was for charcoal making
A footpath sign with mask
Dr Things house later to be the "nodding dog's" house (oh yes!)
I planned to get to the church by midday ,and as you can see,by the church clock,we were spot on!

We opted for the parochial outing this year and had a super dinner which was attended by spouses ,as a special treat for them.Thirteen of us in all,in the new conservatory.
Lots of tall storytelling and banter.
The Moon really is a balloon in this particular case
A shortish walk owing to adverse weather forecast, actually it turned out cold, frosty and damp, but without snow.We parked athe the Church and walked across the paths and had a good look around tha castle proper.A nice Christmassy feel to it and a nice cup of coffee and gateaux in the restaurant.A quick look arouind the aviary and then back.
7 of us and about 3 or 4 miles.
