Oldbury Hill fort dates back to pre Roman times.
However the Caves are much older at 30,000 BC to 100,000 BC
with artefacts on display at the British museum and Maidstone museum
We parked at IGHTHAM MOTE and walked up through the woods to Oldbury
Autumn in all its spendour. And on the way back inspected an apple orchard

Tellytubbies HQ transmitter

This is most of us at the start, and cries out for a caption. It was raining initially, then dried up,pity the sun wasn't shining like yesterday, but you can't have everything .A large area of woodland with many paths which for me means many opportunities to get lost.Quite nice nevertheless, not many people about, some coppicing going on for Chestnut, the smell of woodsmoke.....
We did about six miles with no mud and no injuries,no poisonous snakes, and nowhere to sit for our coffee break.

Charing to Harrietsham NDW

Looking pensive in the rain at our coffee break

This is the anticyclone that we just avoided by 10 minutes.
We decided as there was some weather on the way,to do a familiar walk,on a firm surface,to wit;the North Downs Way.It was raining of course but not too badly. It was quite warm, and no map reading was required,so it was a rest for me.
7 of us 7 miles, rainy, warm.
