BEDGEBURY FOREST

We found a back way in,to avoid the £8 parking charge. It was beginning to rain ,so we suited up.We turned off the main track, and shortly after I became
disorientated(lost)luckily my compass got us back on track, but I still managed to take us out of the forest on to the A21 trunk road. Then I knew where we were,so we could head off back.We stopped for coffee in the old sawmill, and the roads we followed now were much better for walking on.
A cyclist we had seen about 4 times was also lost,so we gave him directions. We arrived at the cars safe and sound and damp.
I have now found a mountain bikers map with waymarkers on it,and we will use this next time.
5 blokes 6 miles rainy but mild.
This is a familiar scene (i'm lost again)
Outside it was tipping down with rain
The were hundreds of Mallards quacking away on Louisa Lake

KINGS WOOD CHALLOCK

Autumn is upon us and the frost too, time to take to the woods.
I was sent about 50 pictures for the blog, trouble is they are all good'uns.
All I can do is pick out those I like best.
Kings Wood near Challock a large area with very little disturbance, apart from occasional beech coppicing. We saw quite a few deer, that were scared off by our tenderfoot progress crashing through the trees.
A cold day but when the sun was present it cheered us up quite a bit.
A cold wind from the north and a completely cloudless sky
We did about 5 miles in a leisurely manner (7 of us)

SAMPHIRE HOE

I don't think anyone fell over this time.
That white worm thing is a train, you can see where the landslip occured in 1916(?)blocking the railway line.
Over there is France
The Pathfinders waiting for the rest of the gang.
This chap has taken a chance under the cliff overhang!
This is the vehicular and foot access to Saphire Hoe
The mud type face of the cliff has eroded into some strange shapes
This gives some indication of the steep nature of the path from the Clifftop Cafe down to the beach
We RV at the Cafe and carefully walked down the very steep path to the beach, then along the shingle under the cliff and on to the Hoe.After a short coffee break,we started up the tunnel to the cliff base and then along the crest of the cliffs(very hard work)then back to the Cafe for a nice hot cup of tea.
