Bearsted to Wateringbury along the Medway towpath

Mote park ,near the start

The lake is frozen

The towpath near Maidstone

I prefer a Shag, but these might be Cormorants and the collective noun is.....?

Ray I tried to send you  this on my cellfone, but I need a 7 year old to show me how.

On the train coming back £2.80    a bargain

RV at Bearsted, and through Mote Park with an overnight temp of -5C,then  across the river by the law courts .There was no wind, but it was still very cold and we reflected that we had cycled in weather like this, with the added wind chill factor.Through the Market and  on the icy  towpath   to Teston, crossing over and then up the hill following the approved walk, and in to Wateringbury, the Railway pub for a coffee ,10 minute wait for the train back to Maids, then Park and Ride from the top of the town.
2 blokes in excess of 10 miles (with all the add ons).WX=perfect, bright sunshine.
A longish walk, but mostly flat, good going as all the mud was frozen and we kept warm by walking fast.
Maybe in the summer we will use homing instinct and do it in reverse.
Happy New Year  The audience join in,good to hear! click this link

Christmas Greetings

No walk this week for some silly reason all the old codgers thought they would rather spend Christmas Eve with their families than strolling through muddy fields with their friends
We all would like to wish all our friends and families , and the odd person who visits this blog a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
On a personal level a special Merry Christmas etc to my relatives from the land down under where the sun is always shining and they play the odd game of crickets  especially John, Russell and your wives and a lady we had privilege of meeting a couple of years ago when she came to the UK a slightly mad but really lovely aussie Wendy
Obviously as there was no walk there are no photos but I will stick a couple of old ones here to stop the page looking rather bare

Meopham Stroll

in the absence of the headmaster four of us met up at our member from Meophams house and with him leading the way basically strolled around that area . We had to stick to the roads and lanes because all the footpaths appeared to be waterlogged . At his insistence we set of to Caymar park where everyone other than yours truly had a bacon/sausage roll and mug of hot tea/coffee . From there I have no idea of where we went but do know there were a lot of hills and lots of puddles Eventually we made it back to Meopham Green and from there back  to our leader for the day house . Here were  greeted by his very lovely young wife who had spent the morning making us a lovely cake plus biscuits and hot mince pies Made all the better as in the absence of the headmaster we got a look in and I got a cuddle from the lovely lady of the house Guess 6 miles and five walkers
