Chartham Bike ride

The first this year, after lots of WX and a flooded Stour. We parked in the Village Community Centre car park and now have on going permission .Only a short ride, for medicinal reasons, the solid path was just letting go of the flood waters and the Stour was flowing at speed. We arrived at Saffrons Restaurant and put our bikes in the garden and received the usual excellent service and food. After ,we had  a look around the City of Canterbury and then back to Chartham in a headwind.Only 6 miles .but a very nice sunny day.
3 of us on bikes 6 miles.

Seven of us met up this week in Charing car park including one of the originators and the leader so we knew we were in for loads of facts which we are never sure are facts or made up
With the fields and paths still water logged it was a matter of keeping to roads where we could . with this restriction we simply made our way across country to Westwell where as normal we stopped for a short coffee break . Last time we were here a sign writer was working on the local pub and now it was finished in all its glory Have a look at the photo below . Leaving Westwell we made to the gliding club where we tried to stop for a drink and sandwich but with the fields not suitable for use the cafe was closed . All down heated we then walked back to Charing Not an exciting walk but a great day out

I come home to this

Reculver Heading East

Once again due to the weather we had to change the day of our walk and where we went as all the fields and paths are more like swimming pools than good old English soil
Just four of us met up at the car park in Reculver and simply set off east following the coast , Luckily the wind was SW so off our backs and the sea fairly calm . We see a large number of Brent geese on a few occassions simply resting just off the coast There is not a lot to report as it was a matter of following the coast , we carried on just past Minnis Bay where we walked up to the top of the cliffs , Turned back towards Reculver for a short while to a very welcome stop at the Minnis Cafe . Then back to the coastal path to Reculver As luck would have it just before we got back to ou cars the heavens opened and we we caught in a massive downpour of hailstones . The photos below hopefully show the storm clouds we were walking into
Still it was great to get out in the fresh air , about 3 1/2 hrs

The mortar in the Roman wall to the left of FRED has been repaired by CCC with the wrong colour mix.Red tiles were ground and added to the mix to give a pink hue  (Your Dear Leader)

Riverside Country Park

as we were slowly going stir crazy due to being unable to get out and the fact the forecast for the next few days is heavy rain we brought our walking day forward one day
Just four of us went to Riverside Country Park at Gillingham , skys very cloudy but with the odd small glimpse of blue pocking out every now and then .
This was a simple stroll walking from the Country Park to The Strand following the riverside path , nothing exciting just to the Strand and back then a quick cuppa
