Only six this week met at Lullingstone Country Park where we started the walk off by sitting down for a tea or coffee
Really hot humid day we simply walked along the lanes and then along the river bank to Shoreham where after a brief stop we strolled back to the country park Very short walk of only just over 4 miles but very pleasant
Sorry about some of the photos but I was acting under instructions from our expert Mr JB

Halling Heritage Trail

Only 7 of us this week met up near Cuxton Railway Station to try the Halling Railway Trail, but with deviations
First we had to catch the train from Cuxton to the next stop along the line Halling which is always fun
Alighting at Halling we took Marsh Rd and by following this track arrived at Halling Marsh , then the River Medway . Here we had great views across the river to All saints church in Wouldham which dates from 1058 . By following the river we came across the steps that for 600 years until 1964 led to a ferry in the last instance used by workers to the nearby cement works . It was very close to this spot we stopped to admire the grand Bishops Palace that dates back to the 16th century
Here we turned inland and headed up some very steep hills to the North Downs Way
If you want some outstanding views of the Kent countryside this is the walk . Basically we went up hill upon hill , through wood after wood and now and then breaking into a clearing where the views took your breath away . Lovely site of buzzard overhead . Then back to Cuxton . Forget what the leader promised we did about 8.5 miles and hard but enjoyable walking
The photos do not do justice to the walk
