Reculver to Herne Bay and back

with just two days to go before Christmas we were a bit low on numbers this week and only 4 of us met at the car park near Reculver Towers .
With the sun out we battled the high winds and walked along the cliff tops eastwards towards Herne Bay , this part of the walk was hard going and a bit muddy . The track leads to a set of steps that led down to the shore which we simply followed into Herne Bay . It was here we , once again , went into the Pier Café in Richmond St where those with money brought a Full English Breakfast . Then it was simply a matter of roughly following out steps back towards Reculver although for a bit of variation we kept to more of the cliff tops . Just over 7.5 miles

Tankerton-Herne Bay

Just five this week  and due to the fact that all the recent rains virtually ruled out any walk involving fields we did a walk we have done many times but knew it would be dry underfoot
We met on the seat front at Tankerton then followed the cliff top path East towards Herne Bay
After half a mile or so this drops down to a path running next to the beach , through the area reserved for naturist, none about, This was the only muddy bit of the walk
Then following the sea shore we passed Hampton pier onto and through Herne Bay , soon after passing Herne Bay we agreed that was far enough and simply retraced our steps but stopping off at a great café where  some ( those rich folk) had a full English breakfast .
8.5 miles overcast with sun showing itself now and then . Great company and very enjoyable day

Meopham

virtually to the day 10 years ago 3 of us friends thought it would be a good idea to take a walk once a week usually in Kent and so the group was formed
Soon others joined and at that time we walked somewhere in the region of 15 miles a day  , over time others joined us and some left Even now on a week by week basis we never know who is going to walk .
Most of these walks have been in the Kent countryside but we do wander into adjacent counties or London and even a day in Paris . One thing that has slightly changed in time is the distance , now with us all 10 years older we tend to take our time and walk in the region of 8 miles or less
Today as it was our anniversary and nearly Christmas we met up at the abode of one of our more educated walkers to be met by his young and lovely wife .
He then led us on a walk on various footpaths and fields all in the area of Meopham and Cobham but unfortunately I did not take much notice therefore cannot describe it here .At the end of 6 miles we retired back to his house where we were royally treated to a table full of cakes and biscuits all home made all made by his wife to wish we give our thanks
Roughly 6 miles walk in the sunshine
Any idea why this unconnected gate is in the middle of a field
